How to hide WhatsApp chat?

If you want to hide a private chat from the chat list, then long press the chat, after this you will see a three dot icon on the top of the right side. 

Here you have to tap on the lock chat option, after clicking on this option, you have to confirm by entering the fingerprint or pin whichever you have set for the phone.

As soon as you confirm, the chat will go to the locked chat folder and to open the chat in this folder, you will need your phone's PIN or fingerprint sensor which you have set for the phone. If you want to create a separate secret code for the locked chat, then for this you will have to go to the locked chat folder.

By clicking on the three dot icon on the right side in the locked chat folder, you will get the option to create a secret code and hide the locked chat in the chat lock settings. 

As soon as you turn on the hide option, the private chat will disappear, to find the chat, you will have to enter the secret code in the search bar of the app, only then your chat will be visible.
