Norovirus and HKU5-CoV-2, tension increased again in the world, threat of two viruses together

Five years after the corona pandemic, the world is facing the threat of two viruses simultaneously. A new virus HKU5-CoV-2 has been identified in China. 

At the same time, there is panic in Britain due to norovirus. There is a danger of HKU5-Cov-2 virus spreading from bats to humans in China. 

Earlier, a dangerous virus like corona had emerged from China. Which caused havoc all over the world. After corona, human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection was seen in China, in which young children and the elderly were most affected. Cases of HMPV were also reported in India.

Now HKU5-CoV-2 has been identified in China. Chinese scientists have described it as similar to the corona virus. People have been advised to be vigilant and cautious. 

Scientists have found the ability to bind to human receptors like SARS-CoV-2. This virus has been described as a disease spreading from bats to humans and is affecting human cells.

Attack on human cells

Virologist Shi Zhengli, who is leading the investigation of this virus, said that this virus is not as dangerous as Corona, but it is rapidly infecting human cells. 

However, its infection capacity is less than that of Covid-19. Scientists from Guangzhou Laboratory, Guangzhou Science Academy, Wuhan University and Wuhan Institute of Virology were involved in the investigation of this virus.

What are the symptoms

The symptoms of this virus were similar to those of cold and COVID-19. Apart from HMPV, cases of Influenza A, Mycoplasma pneumonia and COVID-19 were also reported.

Norovirus cases on the rise in the UK

This virus is spreading rapidly in Europe and America. You can guess its intensity from the fact that 400 cases were reported in the first seven weeks of 2025 alone, after which health officials in these countries appealed to people not to come to hospitals. Health officials say that people should go to hospitals in limited numbers. Because this virus is rapidly infecting other people.

Symptoms of Norovirus

The symptoms of this virus are similar to those of corona infection, which causes high fever, nausea, sudden vomiting, weakness, fatigue and diarrhea.

There is panic due to virus in America too

The British Health and Safety Executive has expressed great concern about this virus. In a notification issued by HSE, it was said that there is a lot of pressure due to the increased activity in health care centers due to the already stressful winter. 

In such a situation, the number of patients suffering from norovirus disease is increasing. This also poses a risk of spreading the infection to new people. 

The organization said that this increase is not limited to Britain only because a similar increase has been seen in America as well, which indicates the international spread of the virus.
