Poor quality medicines are available in the market! 84 batches failed, is your medicine also included?
Nowadays, many medicines available in the market are of poor quality and fake. Many medicines available in the market are fake. These medicines are extremely harmful for health.
The medicines available in the market today are playing with lives. If you are taking any medicine, be careful. In a recent government test, 84 batches of medicines have failed.
These include medicines for diseases like acidity, cholesterol, diabetes and infection. These are used by millions of people daily. This means that instead of curing the disease, medicines can also spoil your health.
CDSCO, the apex body that approves new drugs, has issued an alert regarding fake and non-standard drugs being sold in the market.
Officials said, "This action to identify NSQ and counterfeit drugs is done in collaboration with the states. This helps in identifying fake and substandard drugs and removing them from the market.
According to the new data of CDSCO, in the action taken in December 2024, 84 batches of medicines manufactured by various companies were found to be 'not of standard quality'.
This includes some medicines like acidity, cholesterol, diabetes and bacteria and viruses. Actually, CDSCO examines samples of different medicines from the market every month.
If a medicine does not meet the prescribed standards, it is declared as "Not-of-Standard Quality" (NSQ) i.e. substandard medicine. According to the December 2024 report, 84 batches were found to be bad, which include medicines given for many common diseases.
How are bad medicines identified?
The medicines whose samples are collected by the government are lab tested. If a medicine fails the prescribed quality test, it is declared NSQ. Sometimes the essential ingredients in medicines are not present in the correct quantity and sometimes even poisonous chemicals are found in them.
Now the rules have become more strict!
CDSCO has now made new rules for drug inspectors. Now every inspector will have to take at least 10 samples every month—9 of medicines and 1 of medical device or cosmetic product. This will help in identifying substandard medicines quickly.
What should you do?
Always buy medicines from a trusted company. Do not forget to check the expiry date of the medicine. Do not take any medicine without consulting a doctor.
If you feel any problem after taking the medicine, contact the doctor immediately. The government is constantly trying to remove bad and fake medicines from the market, but we ourselves have to take responsibility for our health. Be a little cautious before buying medicines next time, because nothing is more important than your health.
